Matthew Torkilsen
Artist Statement
Since day 1 I can tell you that Matthew Torkilsen has been a ham. No really! Ask my mom! What I love most about my art is the ability to make someone laugh. As an artist the most important thing to me is putting a smile on the faces of those who need it most. You will see this through my bodies of work as well as my general disposition.

Most of my work thus far has been in musical/comedy, but I am hoping to branch out into more dramatic roles and more roles within film and TV. The main goal of my work is to make it to the Improv mecca: The Second City, so I may get paid in order to perform and do improv and sketch comedy. (my father will be really proud)

I am a current student at Marquette studying Theatre Arts with a double minor in Digital Media and Advertising. With these skills my main goal is to become as versatile as possible. So if anyone is looking to hire me I have plenty of different skills I can bring to the table.

I love my craft and the passion for it. I know one day it'll all pay off, but until then I just have to keep reaching for the stars and never giving up. Fortunately that is something I am very good at.
